Scotsman Ice Systems pioneered the development of affordable, reliable ice-making machines in the 1950s. Half a century of research, innovation and customer service later, we are the largest manufacturer of ice makers in the world, a truly global company with distributors and authorised service agents in over one hundred countries. There are now over a million Scotsman ice makers at work around the world.
Hotels, restaurants, bars, supermarkets, fast-food outlets and numerous other types of businesses rely on us for ice: cube, flake, superflake, scale, dice, and gourmet ice, in quantities from cube-at-a-time dispensers to ten tonnes of ice a day. And each of these businesses is special, because they are Scotsman customers.
It’s only by listening to our customers – and then acting on what we hear – that we have become as big as we are. Throughout the years we have built up our global distribution and service network as well as our range of products, and continue to strive for excellence in all the things we do.
LOCAL COMMITMENT, GLOBALLY
Behind the “front line” of our service people is our service support system, whose role in keeping the Scotsman promise is just as crucial. The core of this system is our worldwide network of Scotsman Technical Centres: over fifty of them, on five continents. Over ten thousand people attend seminars at our centres annually.
At Technical Support at Scotsman, we speak your language. Manual training, CDs, operational videos and guides are all available for those using and specifying Scotsman ice machines. Regular service bulletins are issued to all our engineers and are available direct to customers upon request.
Our after sales organisation plays a key role in reporting what we could be doing better. They are responsible for feeding back customer comments to our European, American and Asian head offices: we are listening to you!
Scotsman holds 33 individual U.S. patents and 71 international patents for unique features that we have developed in ice machine manufacturing, and we invest over 250,000 hours per annum in research and development.

We listen: With over a million ice machines installed around the world, we are not short of advice and clues from our customers on how to make a better machine. This is an essential element of our development activity.
We research: Beyond incoming information from customers around the globe, we have an ongoing market research program which is constantly looking for changing demands and operating circumstances. This data allows Scotsman to anticipate and answer customers’ needs and to provide them with remarkable ice machines – every time.
We develop: Advancing technology allows Scotsman to develop new products or refine existing ones so that customers benefit from the cost savings and improved performance that the careful application of technology can bring. And when we create new models, we submit them to certification organisations to ensure that they surpass a whole range of performance standards which apply around the world.
